Thanks Bella Coco!
I only started learning how to crochet this year. I had always been interested in learning, but didn't know where to start. I was thinking of going to a class at a local sewing shop, but then I got Covid-19, and decided to watch some tutorials from the comfort of my bed instead. That's where I discovered Bella Coco Crochet (created by Sarah-Jane Fragola). Don't get me wrong, there's a heap of amazing tutorials on YouTube, but there's something about Sarah-Jayne's tutorials that just makes it all click for me. Firstly, they're incredibly easy to follow. Sarah-Jayne is a natural teacher, and the way she repeats the steps is super helpful. I find myself saying "yarn over, insert, yarn over, pull through..." in her soothing British accent while I crochet. The Bella Coco website is also a fab resource, with a ton of free tutorials, inspiration and information. You can find it HERE.
The Bella Coco tutorial series for complete beginners is how I learnt the basics and it's absolutely free on YouTube. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn.
Here is episode one:
I also used her tutorial to learn how to make the ICONIC granny square. Now I can do them with my eyes closed (okay, maybe not...) They are so versatile and fun. The brighter, the better!
I am currently working on my first C2C (corner to corner) blanket, which looks complicated, but turns out to be pretty easy once you watch the video!
